Questions
What this guide is, how events get on it, and what the labels mean.
What is On Your Mark?
A verified guide to the events happening around the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco — Jan. 11–14, 2027. We published it from 2017 through 2023, paused, and brought it back for 2027. It’s produced by Big4Bio, which has covered life sciences in eight U.S. regions for more than 10 years.
How does an event get on this list?
Someone on our team puts it there, after checking it against the host’s own materials. We don’t scrape. Every listing starts from a source we can point to — the host’s event page, their registration system, their announcement — and the date, time and venue come from that source rather than from a press mention or a repost.
If we can’t find a source, the event doesn’t go up.
What does the checkmark mean?
That a person confirmed the listing against the host’s own page, and the date beside it is when they last did. “✓ Checked Jan. 3” means a human looked at it on Jan. 3 and the details matched.
A listing without the checkmark is one we’ve sourced but haven’t re-confirmed yet. It’s not wrong — it just hasn’t been looked at recently, and JPM Week details move.
What do the access labels mean?
How you get in, in one word:
- Open — no sign-up, ticket or list. Turn up.
- Register — open sign-up. Fill in the form and you’re in.
- Apply — you submit a request and the host decides. You may be declined.
- Ticketed — paid admission.
- Invite only — no public route in. The host comes to you.
- Check with host — we haven’t confirmed how access works for this one yet.
Why do some listings say “Check with host”?
Because we don’t know yet — not because the host hasn’t decided. In nearly every case the host knows exactly how admission works; we just haven’t confirmed it from their own materials, and we’d rather say so than guess. Follow the link and you’ll find the answer on their page.
Does it cost anything to be listed?
No. Listings are free and always have been. We don’t charge hosts to appear, and we don’t remove or rank down events that don’t advertise. Submitting an event is free, and so is being verified.
Then what are “Featured” and “presented by”?
Being listed is free, and always will be. Two things on this site are paid, and both are labeled wherever they appear.
- Featured — a paid placement that pins an event to the top of its day.
- Presented by — on a day or a section, it means a sponsor supports that part of the site.
Neither affects whether an event is listed or how it’s described. A featured event is verified the same way as every other listing, and a sponsor doesn’t choose what the listings around them say.
What does “Day 2 of 4” mean?
The event runs across more than one day of the week, and you’re looking at it on the second of its four. Multi-day events appear on every day they run, so a Wednesday view shows you everything happening Wednesday, not only the things that start Wednesday. Each day has its own page, so the Wednesday of a four-day event is a place you can link to on its own.
- All week — an event running five days or longer. It shows on every day it covers, rather than carrying a day number.
Can I share what I’m looking at?
Yes — any of it. Every filter you set is in the URL, so the address bar always matches what you’re looking at. Copy it and whoever opens it sees the same filtered list — your Tuesday receptions, the ticketed events, whatever you’ve narrowed it to.
You can also link to one thing rather than a list: a single event has its own page, and so does each day of a multi-day event. Open the one you mean and copy the address.
My event isn’t listed. How do I add it?
Submit it at /submit. It’s free, and we’ll verify it against your own page before it goes up.
A listing is wrong. How do I fix it?
Email corrections@big4bio.com. Point us at the host page or the announcement and we’ll verify against that and update. Corrections to an event you host go to the front of the queue — you know your own event better than our source does.
Is there a printed guide?
Yes. The printed On Your Mark guide is produced for JPM Week 2027 and distributed in San Francisco during the conference.
Who publishes this?
Big4Bio — a life sciences media company publishing daily newsletters across eight U.S. regions to more than 30,000 subscribers. On Your Mark is our JPM Week guide.
